Athletic Performance Enhancement Development Program

APED Overview

We must always remember that for athletes, their primary motive is to increase performance and to enhance movement, “the improvement of athleticism“. The APED program is design to improve one’s sports performance by increasing their flexibility, mobility and SAQ (speed, agility, and quickness). To achieve this, the workout is divided into two sections:

  • 40 minutes of Yoga involving specific stretching movements for sports
  • 40 minutes of (SAQ) development in the sandpit and turf fields

Each Session is 90 minutes, and features a maximum of 10 athletes per session. Sessions are purchased in packages of 5 and are available every Tuesday and Thursday and 6:30pm, and every Sunday morning at 10:00am.

To get the most out of our program, we highly encourage our athletes to sign up for our Total Training Player Package. This combines our ASD, ESTD and APED programs into one, giving them the best results at a lowered bulk price.

The ability to decelerate, redirect and accelerate is crucial to an athlete’s sports performance. A key part in agility however, is balance. In order for the athlete to change speed and move in different directions, the body has to constantly regulate shifts to it’s center of gravity, while subjecting itself to postural deviations. For this reason, this program incorporates quick feet movement drills in the sand, which increases speed and agility dramatically.

Advantages of Training in the Sand

  • Strengthens the stabilizer muscles of the ankle, knees, and hips
  • Improves balance and agility
  • Improves core and rotational strength
  • Corrects structural imbalances
  • Enhances aerobic, anaerobic and lactate threshold, Increasing caloric expenditure and mechanical work demands

Reaction Lights on the Turf Field

The FITLIGHT reaction light system is a speed and cognitive training system: by training what your eyes see, to how your brain processes, to how your body reacts.

The ability to use reaction lights to help improve the response time and the reactive ability of an athlete, is a key component in enhancing athletic performance and strengthening the bond between the mind and the body.
